Why is it unique?

The project will advance the state of the art in research on the relationship between local welfare systems, women’s labour market integration, and social cohesion. It will integrate existing national and international data as well as produce new high-quality survey based comparable data on issues related to how local welfare systems may favour social cohesion. It is expected that from these data new insights will emerge as to what kind of policy mixes and promising practices will best serve the employment of women and social cohesion. We will assess which cultures, institutions, processes and actors that support or constrain the transferability of promising practices from one country/locality to another. In sum, this collaborative research project will produce new empirical as well as conceptual knowledge that will feed and develop an academic, social and political dialogue, and contribute to the renewed Lisbon Agenda.
